Hello all! We have been very busy (of course!) preparing the tutorial kits to be given to 5 local congregations this year. Most of the days last week were spent at the condo printing, laminating, and binding all of the teacher materials that go in to each kit. A typical day for me (Kelsey) consisted of waking up, sitting down in my little corner, and printing as many pages of kit materials as I could until I went to bed. I stopped for lunch and dinner (I had to keep up my energy!), but pretty much all of my day was focused on printing pages. If I had to guess, I would say at least 4,000 sheets of paper have passed through my hands over a matter of weeks. During that time, we always have printer issues, whether the ink has run out, or the pages aren’t printing right, or a page needs to be edited again, and we have to troubleshoot all of those problems before we can even continue! Sometimes it gets a bit tiring, but we know the end is near and that so many lives will be blessed by our efforts, so we are given strength to finish the work we have committed to do!
This Saturday will be the 2nd Annual Teacher’s Workshop, where we will be giving current tutorial teachers extra resources to use in their classrooms, such as a discipline program, classroom rules, file folder games, tips for new teachers in starting a new school year, and manipulatives to enable hands-on learning in their classrooms. It will be a very full and exhausting day, but we’re all looking forward to meeting & visiting with the teachers and encouraging them to be the best teachers they can be for their students.
Since my last post, we have gained a new member to our group! Anita Davidson, from Denver, CO has joined us to assist in our current work. She was able to also go to Cebu and do work there with a friend she met last year when she came. This evening she will be returning.
Please keep us all in your prayers as we forge onward into the world of all things Filipino!
